2022…How Time Flies!

The last two years have certainly changed the way we travel. Now that most countries are opening up or relaxing restrictions, here’s where you can you go in Southeast Asia.

VIETNAM

As of March 15, 2022, international visitors arriving in the country by air must undergo a rapid antigen test at the airport. Then you are required to self-isolate at your hotel while waiting for the test results, which can take up to 24 hours. Travelers must install one of the health declaration applications (specific app details will be provided upon arrival) on their smartphone and keep it on during their stay in the country.

THAILAND

Registration for the Thailand Pass under a new and more flexible Exemption from Quarantine program (TEST&GO) began March 1, 2022. Vaccinated travelers will be required to take a PCR test on Day 1, and a self-administered rapid test on Day 5. And, you are required to stay in your room at a Government approved (SHA++) hotel while waiting for the results on Day 1.

UPDATE: Thailand is due to lift pre-arrival testing beginning April 1st. Travelers will be allowed to enter Thailand without the need to show proof of a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of travel. International arrivals under any of the current three entry schemes – TEST & GO, Sandbox, and Alternative Quarantine – will be allowed to enter Thailand without the need to show proof of a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of travel. The testing requirement is as follows:

  • TEST & GO and Sandbox travelers: RT-PCR test upon arrival (Day 0) and an Antigen self-test on Day 5.
  • Sandbox staying period: Reduced to five days from the current seven days. After completing five days within the Sandbox destinations, travelers will be allowed to travel domestically within Thailand.
  • Alternative Quarantine: Quarantine reduced to five days and an RT-PCR test on Day 4-5.

CAMBODIA

The country officially reopened for tourism on November 15, 2021. All visitors must present proof of vaccination to avoid quarantining for 14 days after arrival. The Visa-On-Line service has reopened for all international visitors arriving by air, land and sea.

SINGAPORE

The country is open to fully vaccinated travelers who are short-term visitors. You can enter through the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). You will need to do self-administered rapid COVID tests for seven days after arrival but submission of results is not required.

MALAYSIA

The country will reopen on April 1, 2022. There will be no quarantine for those fully vaccinated with a negative PCR test taken two days before arrival and a professional antigen rapid test taken within 24 hours after arrival.

LAOS

The government of Laos is not issuing tourist visas at this time. We’ll post an update once this changes.

Myanmar

Myanmar is closed to tourists. No timeline has been published as to when the country may reopen.
