• Bangkok has been rated the "Best City in Asia" by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, 2009.
  
  
• Eastin Hotel in Bangkok has just completed a major renovation and redevelopment project. Also newly renovated are the two-bedroom island villas at Sheraton Grande Laguna Hotel in Phuket.
  
  
• At the recent Spa Asia Crystal Awards, the "Best Wellness Retreat" award was presented to Kamalaya Koh Samui Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand.
  
  
• A new 5* mountain retreat has opened in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Katiliya Mountain Resort & Spa sits on top of a mountain overlooking valleys, lakes and forests.
  
  
• Sofitel Hotels is introducing a new brand called Sofitel Legend. This will be a collection of "legendary" properties. The first hotel to earn the Legend rating is the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi.
  
  
• The Furama Hotel in Danang, Vietnam has a brand new PADI dive shop, called Dive Danang. This is the first dive center in Danang. The Furama also has a new Spa & Health Center and a new nightclub, Club Tourane, which is being billed as the first five-star nightclub in Danang.
  
  
• Danang is also home to the new Montgomerie Links Golf Course. The first nine holes have been open since July, 2008 and the final nine holes were scheduled to be completed by January, 2009. In November, 2008, Montgomerie Links opened their International PGA Golf Academy, which is the first such academy on Vietnam's central coast.
  
  
• Pandaw Cruises, which has operated for a number of years in Myanmar and on the Mekong, will introduce two-night cruises between Saigon, Vietnam and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This service is due to begin in July, 2009 on the brand new RV Indochina Pandaw, currently being built in Saigon.
  
  
• The InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel is now offering complimentary shuttle service to the center of Hanoi.
  
  
• Scheduled to open in January, 2009, is Siem Reap, Cambodia's The Sothea, a member of The Preferred Boutique group of independent luxury-class hotels and resorts. The Sothea boasts 39 suites with full butler service.
