MYANMAR

MyanmarMyanmar (formerly Burma) has had a tumultuous past. Over the years it has been ruled by the Mongols, China, France and Britain. It was the site of intense fighting during World War II. In 1948, Burma became an independent nation. But a military coup in 1962 put an end to Burma’s fledgling democracy. Despite the international attention focused on Myanmar when opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991, the country continues to be ruled by an oppressive military regime.

Though the political situation in Myanmar has stopped some travelers from visiting, others have been enticed by the striking scenery, stunning Buddhist temples and pagodas and lack of commercialism. In fact, many people say that Myanmar is not only the jewel of Southeast Asia, but one of the most enthralling places on earth. We can't help but agree.

At Southeast Asia Tours, we design tours for any number of people and any length of stay. The focus is always on your special interests and desires. Here are just a few samples of the kind of trip that we can design just for you.
