VIETNAM to CAMBODIA CRUISES
Cruising the Mekong River is a unique way to visit the rural areas of Southeast Asia that so many tourists never see. You'll be able to observe life along the riverbanks as you relax and enjoy the serenity and beauty of your surroundings. Stops along the way give you an opportunity to mingle with the locals as you explore their bustling markets, visit ancient ruins and temples, experience recent history and explore riverfront towns. Not only do these cruises offer an authentic, first-hand travel experience, but they're also a wonderful way to cut down on long drives and trips to airports. Cruises are listed in an upstream direction, JAYAVARMAN Day 1 Embark at Nha Rong port and cruise to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta. (D) Day 2 Morning visit to the Cai Be floating market. Afternoon exploration of the Kampong Cham area with Wat Nokor, the eco village of Cheungkok and Kampong Cham Orphanage. (B, L, D) Day 8 Disembark in the morning and drive, via coach, to Siem Reap. A stop will be made, along the way, at Kampong Thom. A box lunch will be provided. (B, L, D) Day 7 Sail to Kampong Chhnang for a walk through the silversmith village. Continue to Kampong Chhnang's floating houses and stop at a Heritage Line sponsored floating school. (B, L, D) Day 8 Disembark at Siem Reap port or Prek K'dam. (B, L) 2012 Prices coming soon. RV LA MARGUERITE Day 1 Afternoon embarkation and cruise to Soai Rap. Continue to Cai Be. (L, D) Day 2 Tour the Cai Be area before cruising to Sadec for a visit of the township. This evening's dinner includes a cultural show. (B, L, D) Day 3 Visit Chau Doc town before heading to Phnom Penh, arriving in time for dinner. (B, L, D) Day 4 Visit Phnom Penh's main sites including the Royal Palace, National Museum, Toul Sleng and the Killing Fields. A special Cambodian cultural performance will accompany dinner. Day 5 Visit Chong Koh village with its silk weaving factory. Also visit Peam Chi Kang village before departing for Kampong Cham. (B, L, D) Day 6 Visit the hilltop pagoda of Wat Hanchey on the way to Kampong Cham. On arrival visit Wat Nokor and the Eco village. (B, L, D) Day 7 Sail to Prek K'dam to visit Kampong Chhnang. LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG RIVER Day 1 - Depart the pier in Luang Prabang, Laos, in the early morning and cruise to Pakbeng. On the way to Pak Ou village a stop will be made to observe the traditional process of making rice alcohol. Then visit Tam Ting "caves of a thousand Buddhas." Continue along the river and arrive in Pakbeng before sunset. Accommodations at the LuangSay Lodge. (L, D) Day 2 - There's time for an optional walk to Pakbeng market where villagers from the surrounding area exchange their goods. Cruise along the Mekong with stops along the way to observe rural life along the river. Arrive at Houeisay pier in Thailand in the late afternoon. (B, L) LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG & KAMU LODGES Day 1 - Depart Luang Prabang, Laos, to Kamu Village, with a stop along the way at Tam Ting "Cave of Thousand Buddhas." Arrive at Kamu Lodge in time for lunch. This afternoon you have a choice of activities including rice planting and harvesting, gold panning (seasonal), jungle walks, fishing or trekking through the forest to waterfalls. Overnight at Kamu Lodge. (L, D) Day 2- Visit the village of Kamu before boarding your boat. Lunch will be on board. Arrive at Pakbeng before sunset. Dinner will be on the terrace of your hotel, overlooking the Mekong River. Overnight at LuangSay Lodge. (B, L, D) Day 3 - After breakfast take an optional walk to the Pakbeng market, where people from surroudning villages sell their goods. Continue your cruise, with a stop en route to see ethnic minority villages, arriving at Houei Say pier in the late afternoon.
