Stops along the way give you an opportunity to mingle with the locals as you explore their bustling markets, visit ancient ruins and temples, experience recent history and explore riverfront towns. Not only do these cruises offer an authentic, first-hand travel experience, but they're also a wonderful way to cut down on long drives and trips to airports.

but are also available in the reverse direction.

Saigon to Phnom Penh

Day 1 Embark in Saigon and cruise to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta. (D)

Day 2 Morning visit to the Cai Be floating market. Walk or cycle along the canal to an ancient house. Afernoon visit to Sa Dec town. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Explore Chau Doc town including the local market, floating village and catfish farm. Visit a Cham Village. Cruise towards Phnom Penh, with a cooking demonstration on board. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Disembark in Phnom Penh. (B)

Saigon to Siem Reap

Day 1 Transfer to My Tho, embark the boat and cruise to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta. Overnight on board. (D)

Day 2 Morning visit to the Cai Be floating market. Walk or cycle along the canal to an ancient house. Vist Sa Dec town. Overnight on board. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Explore Chau Doc town including the local market, floating village and catfish farm. Visit a Cham Village. Cruise towards Phnom Penh, with a cooking demonstration on board. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Morning visit to the Royal Palace, National Museum and Wat Phnom. In the afternoon visit the Genocide Museum. This evening attend a dinner with Aspara performance. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Depart Phnom Penh for Chong Koh silk weaving village. Visit Angkor Ban village and then cruise toward Kampong Cham. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Today you'll visit the pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey. Cruise to Wat Nokor and an orphanage. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Sail to Kampong Chhnang and travel by motorboat and coach to Aundaung Russey village and by boat to floating houses and fish farms. Cruise Lake Ton Le Sap. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Sail to Kampong Chhnang for a walk through the last silversmith village. You'll also tour Kampong Chhnang's floating house and a floating school. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Disembark in Siem Reap. (B)

Day 1 - Drive from Saigon to My Tho and board the boat. Afternoon touring My Tho's villages by sampan and horse cart. (L, D)

Day 2 - Visit Cai Be town including the floating market, ancient house and handicraft workhop. Bicycle around An Binh Island. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Visit Sa Dec town with the bonsai garden and ancient house. Cooking demonstration on board the boat as it travels to Chau Doc. (B, L, D)

Day 4 - Tour Chau Doc's floating fish farms and a Cham village. Visit Sam Mountain with its temples and pagoda. (B, L, D)

Day 5 - Travel by shuttle speedboat to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. (B)

Upstream Saigon to Siem Reap

Day 1 Transfer from Saigon to My Tho and board the ship. Afternoon touring in Cai Be. (L, D)

Day 2 Today's full day tour of the Mekong Delta includes the Cai Be floating market, Sa Dec town and Vinh Long to visit an ancient house. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Visit a Cham village and cruise to Chau Doc for a tour of the town including a trishaw ride and visit to a fish farm. Continue to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. (B, L, D)

Day 4 This morning explore Phnom Penh via private cyclo. In the afternoon visit the Killing Fields and Toul Sleng Musuem. (B, L, D)

Day 5 This morning you'll journey by river or coach (depending on river conditions) to Kampong Chhnang. In the afternoon cruise back to Phnom Penh. (B, L, D)

Day 6 This morning you'll visit Chong Koh silk-weaving village. In the afternoon visit the Wat (temple) and monastery at Peam Chi Kang village. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Morning visit to Wat Hanchey temple. Afternoon visit to the twin Holy mountains Phnom Pros and Phnom Srey and the eco village of Cheungkok. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Coach transfer to Siem Reap, with a stop at Kampong Thom. (B)

LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG UPSTREAM
(Laos to Thailand)

Day 1 - Depart the pier in Luang Prabang, Laos, in the early morning and cruise up the Mekong River to Pakbeng. Along the way you'll stop to visit the Pak Ou Buddha caves and a hill tribe village where you'll observe the traditional process of making Lao whiskey. Accommodations at the LuangSay Lodge. (L, D)

Day 2 - Cruise along the Mekong with stops along the way to observe rural life along the river. Arrive at Houeisay pier in Thailand in the late afternoon. (B, L)

OR

LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG DOWNSTREAM
(Thailand to Laos)

Day 1 - Early morning departure from HoueiSay pier in northern Thailand. Cruise downstream with stops to observe rural life along the river and to discover minority villages. Arrive in Pakbeng before sunset. Accommodations at the LuangSay Lodge. (L, D)

Day 2 - Walk to Pakbeng market where people come from surrounding villages to exchange goods. Depart on the second leg of your cruise. A short stop will be made to visit a hilltribe village where you can observe the production of Lao whiskey. Continue to the Pak Ou Buddha caves before arriving in Luang Prabang, Laos. (B, L)

Transfers to/from the pier at HoueiSay are available at an additional fee of $118.
