Stops along the way give you an opportunity to mingle with the locals as you explore their bustling markets, visit ancient ruins and temples, experience recent history and explore riverfront towns. Not only do these cruises offer an authentic, first-hand travel experience, but they're also a wonderful way to cut down on long drives and trips to airports.

Day 1 Embark at Nha Rong port and cruise to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta. (D)

Day 2 Morning visit to the Cai Be floating market. After lunch at Le Longanier restaurant, walk or bike along the canal to An Kiet house. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Early a.m. Tai Chi class on the sun deck. Time to explore the town of Chau Doc before your mid-afternoon cruise to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. (B, L, D)

Saigon to Siem Reap

Day 1 Embark at Nha Rong port in Saigon and cruise to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta. Overnight on board. (D)

Day 2 Morning visit to the Cai Be floating market. After lunch at Le Longanier restaurant, walk or bicycle along the canal to An Kiet house. Overnight on board. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Early a.m. Tai Chi class on the sun deck. Time to explore the town of Chau Doc before your mid-afternoon cruise to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Morning visit to the Royal Palace, National Museum and Wat Phnom. In the afternoon visit the Genocide Museum. This evening attend a dinner with cultural show.

Day 5 Depart Phnom Penh to Chong Koh silk-weaving village. After lunch on board, visit Wat Nokor and Cheung Kok Ecotourism. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Today you'll visit the pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Sail to Kampong Chhnang for a walk through the last silversmith village. You'll also tour Kampong Chhnang's floating house and a floating school. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Disembark in Siem Reap or Prek K'dam. (B, L)

Saigon to Siem Reap

Day 1 Transfer from Saigon to My Tho and board the ship. Afternoon touring in Cai Be. (L, D)

Day 2 Today's full day tour of the Mekong Delta includes the Cai Be market and Vinh Long. Cruise to Cu Lao Gien. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Cruise to Chau Doc for a half day tour of the town, before continuing to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. (B, L, D)

Day 4 This morning explore Phnom Penh via your private cyclo. In the afternoon you'll visit the Killing Fields and Toul Sleng Musuem, as well as local markets. (B, L, D)

Day 5 This morning you'll journey by river or coach (depending on river conditions) to Kampong Chhnang. In the afternoon you'll cruise back to Phnom Penh. (B, L, D)

Day 6 This morning you'll visit Chong Koh silk-weaving village. In the afternoon visit the Wat (temple) and monastery at Peam Chi Kang village. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Morning visit to Wat Hanchey temple. Afternoon exploration of the Kampong Cham area with Wat Nokor, the eco village of Cheungkok and Kampong Cham Orphanage. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Disembark at Kampong Cham and travel via motorcoach to Kampong Thom, before continuing to Siem Reap. (B, L)

LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG UPSTREAM
(Laos to Thailand)

Day 1 - Depart the pier in Luang Prabang, Laos, in the early morning and cruise up the Mekong River to Pakbeng. Along the way you'll stop to visit the Pak Ou Buddha caves and a hill tribe village where you'll observe the traditional process of making Lao whiskey. Accommodations at the LuangSay Lodge. (L, D)

Day 2 - Cruise along the Mekong with stops along the way to observe rural life along the river. Arrive at Houeisay pier in Thailand in the late afternoon. (B, L)

OR

LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG DOWNSTREAM
(Thailand to Laos)

Day 1 - Early morning departure from HoueiSay pier in northern Thailand. Cruise downstream with stops to observe rural life along the river and to discover minority villages. Arrive in Pakbeng before sunset. Accommodations at the LuangSay Lodge. (L, D)

Day 2 - Walk to Pakbeng market where people come from surrounding villages to exchange goods. Depart on the second leg of your cruise. A short stop will be made to visit a hilltribe village where you can observe the production of Lao whiskey. Continue to the Pak Ou Buddha caves before arriving in Luang Prabang, Laos. (B, L)

LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG WITH KAMU VILLAGE
(Laos to Thailand)

Day 1 - Depart Luang Prabang, Laos, to Kamu Village, with a stop along the way at Pak Ou to visit Tam Ting "Cave of Thousand Buddhas." Arrive at Kamu Lodge in time for lunch. This afternoon you have a choice of activities including rice planting and harvesting, gold panning (seasonal), jungle walks or trekking through the forest to waterfalls. Overnight at Kamu Lodge. (L, D)

Day 2- Visit the village of Kamu before boarding your boat. Arrive at Pakbeng before sunset. Dinner will be on the terrace of your hotel, overlooking the Mekong River. Overnight at LuangSay Lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - After breakfast walk to the Pakbeng market, where people from surrounding villages sell their goods. Continue your cruise, with stops en route to see ethnic minority villages, arriving at Houei Say pier in the late afternoon. (B, L)

LUANGSAY CRUISE ON THE MEKONG WITH KAMU VILLAGE
(Thailand to Laos)

Day 1 - Early morning departure from HoueiSay pier in northern Thailand. Cruise downstream with stops to observe rural life along the river and to discover minority villages. Arrive in Pakbeng before sunset. Accommodations at the LuangSay Lodge. (L, D)

Day 2 - Walk to Pakbeng market where people come from surrounding villages to exchange goods. Depart for Kamu village following at stop to observe the production of rice alcohol. This afternoon you can choose from a variety of activities including rice planting and harvesting, gold panning (seasonal), jungle walks to look for medicinal plants or trekking to waterfalls. Accommodations at Kamu Lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Visit the village of Kamu before continuing your cruise. Following a stop at Pak Ou, to see the Tam Ting Caves, you'll arrive at Luang Prabang. (B, L)
